The A.R.D.A. project

Advanced Reduced Drag Aircraft
By Jean-Louis Naudin
created on March 25, 1999 - JLN Labs - Last update April 10, 1999

The purpose of this project is to build a light weight flying aircraft which uses an EHD (Electro-HydroDynamics) apparatus based on the T.T. Brown effect for reducing significantly the air drag on the wings during the fly, this will reduce the power consumption of the engines and also will improve the flight performances. I have experimented successfuly the T.T.Brown effect in a previous experiment with two rotating wings.

The ARDA (Advanced Reduced Drag Aircraft) Project is composed of two main phases :

Beginning : The main part of model before the mounting

Phase 1 : Main assembly finished on 03-25-99 ( 10h15PM )

Phase 2 : Engines installation ( on 03-26-99 at 09:00PM)

Phase 3 : Radio and avionic installation

Phase 4 : Check and tuning

The B2 is now ready for the first flight. (03-27-99)

Comments from Jean-Louis Naudin: This model is wonderful to control, the very light weight ( 146 g ) and its weak wing loading ( 12 g/dm2 ) gives to this scaled B2 a magic fly, very realistic and close to the full scale model...The Phase one is a full success...

Phase Two : building of an enhanced flying Aircraft based on the flying B2 prototype previously tested. This new model will use the T.T.Brown effect (as an Electro-HydroDynamics aircraft), the Advanced Reduced Drag Aircraft (A.R.D.A. Project) is now started...
